1upHealth is powering the digital transformation of the healthcare industry with our industry leading platform. By making healthcare data easily accessible and computable, we are on a mission to improve the patient experience, improve the quality of care, and reduce the overall cost of care.

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to direct teams responsible for the foundational platforms, frameworks, and services powering the SaaS-based healthcare data exchange platform. This team develops and maintains scalable, secure, and high-performance capabilities spanning data lakehouse architectures, data processing, metadata management, identity management, and data access layer, enabling 1upHealth’s engineers to efficiently build and optimize data pipelines, services, and applications.

In this role, you’ll get to lead across three domains: People, Process and Technology.

  • Attract, inspire, grow, and retain exceptional engineers.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define a vision and roadmap for the 1upHealth platform.
  • Partner with teams across the organization to execute the roadmap and vision with velocity and predictability.
  • Work across the organization to optimize the 1upHealth platform for scalability while reducing overall operating costs.

We are looking for people who have:

  • The drive to build a positive, engaging work environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work.
  • Technical ability to problem solve with engineers and drive technical trade-offs and decisions. Previous hands-on experience as a software developer and technical leader is a must.
  • Experience with modern open source technologies and serverless and/or container-based architectures.
  • Led initiatives operating within a platform organization providing solutions for engineering teams as customers
  • One or more of:
    • Experience managing high-volume, high-velocity data using modern data technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Trino, and Apache Airflow
    • Experience with access control patterns and when to apply each (e.g., RBAC, ABAC)
    • Experience integrating with OAuth2, OIDC, SAML solutions
    • Experience with healthcare standards, preferably based on current HL7v2 and FHIR standards..
  • Ability to increase team performance with Agile scrum and Kanban development methods while minimizing technical debt.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both engineers and executive leadership.
  • Experience including 5+ years managing team(s) of Software and Infrastructure Engineers, and a BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
