About First Dollar

Today, over 112 million Americans have access to health spending benefits. And as healthcare costs continue to rise, the individuals and organizations that use and offer health spending benefits will depend on them even more. But if you look behind the curtain of most programs today, you'll find a hodgepodge of legacy tech solutions that create barriers to benefit design and access.

First Dollar is tackling this challenge. We build software tools and APIs that enable organizations to design, launch, and manage DC-FSAs, FSAs, LP-FSAs, LSAs, HRAs, HSAs, rewards, supplementals, and more. We power the “health wallet” for all healthcare spending, acting as a single touch point for any consumer healthcare transaction. And in our work, we leverage modern engineering advances and human-centered design principles to offer the most advanced solution on one card, app, and API.

Our team includes educators, entrepreneurs, industry experts, musicians, and technologists. Several of us are new parents, many of us have built exciting things on previous tech teams, and we've all joined together to make offering and using benefits feel effortless. In our daily work, we strive to uphold our values of ownership, relentlessness, inclusivity, simplicity, and authenticity. We’ve been recognized as a Best Place to Work in Austin, Texas, but we have teammates throughout the United States.

About the Role

First Dollar is about to take off, and this role is critical to our success. The Director/Sr. Director of Implementation will produce a best-in-class experience that makes implementation a true market differentiator for First Dollar. The role is equally strategic and tactical and demands a true do-it-all leader.

This leader will directly own complex and critical platform implementations (Client types include: TPAs, health plans, financial institutions, PEOs, brokers and other similar entities), driving efficient and effective execution of implementation projects from pre-sales to go live. As the critical interface between our Clients, internal teams, and stakeholders, the Director/Sr. Director of Implementation will establish project plans, allocate resources, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions on time and within budget.

You will:

  • Own the development, operation and continuous improvement of an effective, confidence-driving platform implementation/integration process;
  • From pre-sale consultation to go live, be the Directly Responsible Individual for all aspects of the onboarding and implementation of new clients, including any and all work related to migrations
  • Lead cross-functional coordination in delivering excellence to clients, achieving a sustainable balance between partner advocacy and First Dollar advocacy; evaluate impact of client-requested exceptions and develop reasonable alternatives to satisfy client's needs while minimizing internal impact
  • Be a thought leader for Clients and First Dollar on the solving hard problems that don't have clear or established solutions, ensuring no problem is ignored or goes unresolved
  • Ensure delivery of Client feedback collected in owned processes to appropriate internal parties, assisting in the prioritization of solving those problems
  • Lend subject matter expertise to supporting product analysis to assist in appropriate planning and development
  • Lead collaboration on the review, analysis and development of recommendations for the design of complex account and benefit structures based on client's objectives and First Dollar's infrastructure
  • Demonstrate equal levels of high integrity and skill both in following clear plans and in navigating ambiguity
  • Other duties as assigned

You may be a fit if you possess:

  • 8+ years of project or implementation management or technical program management
  • Detail-oriented and big picture mindset in a fast paced, growing environment
  • The confidence and ability to take charge despite uncertainty
  • Deep experience in enterprise software systems and operations, SaaS products and deployment processes, as well as familiarity with cloud-based technologies
  • Experience implementing API solutions for enterprise customers
  • The ability to distill technical topics to less technical stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities without impacting deadlines, plan and execute with minimal supervision
  • Strong listening skills, with the ability to hear, understand and address customer feedback
  • Superior follow-through, ability to assimilate information quickly, and communicate comfortably with account contacts at all levels of management within an organization
  • An ability to work well both independently and across various stakeholders–especially First Dollar customers, engineers and other business owners–ensuring everyone is marching to the same beat
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization capabilities
  • Strong verbal and visual communication skills
  • A team mentality with excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Compensation: Competitive salary and meaningful equity. We take a data-driven approach to our compensation strategy so all employees are paid competitively and equitably.
  • Tax-advantaged Vehicles: Tax-advantaged vehicles, including a 401(k) plan and a health savings account (HSA) for eligible medical plans. We also provide a generous contribution to the HSA.
  • Remote Work Stipend: Each team member gets $500 to help cover expenses like co-working memberships, home office equipment, and coffee runs.
  • Benefits: Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance. We cover 100% of employee medical premiums and 50% of family member medical premiums for employees enrolled in the HDHP. Plus, all employees receive a free One Medical membership.
  • Work-Life Balance: Progressive policies to support work-life balance, like our flexible paid time off and parental leave program.
  • Office: A beautiful, convenient, and state-of-the-art office in downtown Austin for those who prefer an office setting.

For those that prefer an office setting, this role may be based in our Austin location with flexibility to work from the office/remote. If you prefer to work from your home, we can accommodate that for most positions and locations across the United States.
